Sour Patch Kids MVP Top Picks Mix

This isn't really a new product as much as it is a repackaging of existing product, except I've never had the cherry ones before so I got it to try those. One nice thing about the SPK life (as opposed to Haribo) is: they're way easier to bite, and the serving size is in pieces (9) instead of tablespoons (inscrutable). Lately I'm suffering from stomach issues, so maybe a bunch of sour candy is not the answer to that...but there's no milk or fat, so then again, maybe it is. Only time will tell! Anyway, here's what you get:

Cherries: these are really good. Cherry flavor with the usual sour dust. Something different! They're a little more onerous to chew because they are so big, so I'm glad it's not a full bag of them, but they're nice to break up the parade of kids. 7/10

Kids: normally I don't eat human-shaped foods, but I guess these are the (weird) exception. There is blue raspberry, orange, lime green, red that is probably cherry but tastes pretty different from the cherries cherry, yellow lemon (a highlight)... 7/10

Watermelons: Already discussed previously, these are pretty good and weirdly soft.  7/10

A pleasant assortment. The Star Mix of SPK.

Sour Patch Kids Glow Ups

Who asked for this? "The first ever candy to glow under a blacklight"?? I mean, I'm not against it -- I like the stupid cooling Icee cereal, so I also like this. It's just a funny product. I wonder if it will encourage anyone who doesn't already have one to buy a blacklight. If they do, they might discover some hidden infestations they wish had remained hidden (or sex stuff, but in my experience I'm mostly just discovering hidden infestations, even in hotel rooms, which is the original reason to purchase a blacklight before Big Gummy got in on the game).

These are supposed to be strawberry & watermelon, but I think (??) they're all the same color & flavor, so I guess it's a mix in a single Kid? The predominant flavor I get is watermelon, which is a fine flavor, although not as delicious as those seasonal black raspberry ones. Easy to binge, alas. But good for nausea! Even if not good for other organs and systems....

Stupid Novelty: 6/10 (if you don't have a blacklight these are literally just regular candy)

Sour Patch Kids - Peach

A-N-X I-E T-Y! Makes you wonder why you try! 🎵

I got these after googling "BEST CANDY FOR TUMMY ACHE"; the best candy for tummy ache seems to be ginger (no nut-free ginger candy exists, trust me I've looked) or peppermint (a choco-free mint is not a candy, thank you very much). So the second best candy is "sour candy", or so they say. Of course these have a little "not so sour" emblem which I didn't notice 'til I already bought them and thought "well these aren't very sour"!! Foiled again! They also taste like every other peach candy, and I realise I don't like peach candy much. Peaches are great. Peach pastry, very good. Artificial peach flavor? No thank you. I still ate many of them, but no thank you to the concept. Cute shape/coloring on these, though. And my teeth do hurt a little, which is sufficiently distracting. Wahee~

Sour Patch Kids Sour Hearts

This is good. The rare early on-sale Valentine's candy. Sour little black hearts! They are more sour than regular sour patch kids and have a nice flavor (indeed, it is like blue raspberry but less sweet and more sour. good.). The taste is evocative of a simpler time, like pool food or something. If I were in my human interaction era, I'd be giving these to all my lovers. As it stands I am happy to have them for myself.

Sour Patch Kids - Lemonade Fest

Very fun! I always like a sour patch kid, even though I ate too many of these and had a sore tongue for a few days. Here are the four flavors ranked from best to worst:

Cherry Lime: This is more lime than cherry! But it's quite accurate in the sense that it tastes like a cherry limeade. Pretty good. 7/10

Strawberry Lemonade: Accurate taste! But very sour also, and hurts my wee teeth. 7/10.

Lemonade: So boring! JK. This is like a very sour yellow chuckle, which I like, but would like even better if it weren't sour. Better to suck rather than chew (lol). 7/10

Blue: This is not a type of lemonade that I recognize. It tastes like a blue freezer pop, so that's less good. 6/10

In general these impressed me because they do taste like their drinks (except blue). Very sour and sweet, so if you're craving that, it'd be great.

Sour Patch Watermelon Candy

Huh. These are a nut free candy: good. But these aren't as good as regular sour patch kids. There are at least two reasons for this. One is the flavor is watermelon. OK, as advertised, they really do taste like watermelon candy. Unfortunately I like the green/yellow/orange/red/blue traditional flavors all better than watermelon. Second is the texture. These are almost like gum, taffy, something softer and squishier than the almost Swedish-fish-like biteability of the original. Maybe it's because of the shape? Maybe I had a bad/slightly old(It was) batch? Maybe it's a design feature? But it is not good. Felt like I had some slightly sour tangy watermelon bubblegum that dissolved in my mouth. OK, so not great overall. Really it just made me want some regular sour patch kids!!

Sour Patch Kids

Can't believe I've never reviewed Sour Patch Kids! These are a classic candy when I'm craving something sweet, plus they're super nut free, plus they come in this nice 1$ movie theatre box. (~360 cals). I'm not sure who makes them, it seems like a mixed-distribution model (like smarties) but they are often paired with Swedish Fish in deals. Anyway, these are soft, like Chuckles, and not chewy or difficult at all. The perfect texture for a chewy style candy. They come in 5 colors/flavors, which are vaguely distinct but not enough for me to have super strong preferences among them. I think the blue flavor is new, and of course I like that (it's the kid in me) as well as cherry, and then lime, orange, and lemon in descending order. The sour bite is just enough to be satisfying, but not painful (although if you get a bigger package than this one, your mouth roof might need a bit of TLC). They do make my teeth hurt a little bit afterwards, but it's worth it for the pleasant and craveable taste and texture! Plus they're shaped like kids, how fun.

4th of July Red White and Blue Sour Patch Kids: OK, I am eating these at Halloween, so it's no wonder the bag smells super weird. My boyf gave me this massive bag because he didn't like the weird smell, but they taste normal so I'm eating a lot of SPKs these days. There are the typical red and blue flavors, but also white, which is pineapple(??) and new to me. To be honest, they all kinda taste the same though. 7/10
