Herr's Creamy Ranch & Habenero Potato Chips

I know I swore off Herr's in my last review because of their blanket "everything is a may contain for everything" policy (which they are too cowardly to actually put on the package!!!!!!!). However this was the only new-to-me product in the one functioning vending machine at my job. It's slim pickings, folks. And the label reads as safe so it's probably fine, but I don't like that I bought it. Next time I'll have more conviction. Anyway, ignoring my label annoyance, these are solid chips. They really do have a good amount of spice to them, which I like because it covers up the ranch flavor underneath. The main notes are "burning" and a little "weird cream". Perhaps "pepper". No cheese, which is rare for a spicy chip. Would I rather have a safe jalepeno chip? Definitely. If you want to feel like you're on fire and maybe dying a little, these are your chipmen.

Herr's Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips

Oh, Herr's. I got these because my usual safe tostitos chips were like 7$ or something crazy, and Herr's is a recognizable brand to me. And sadly for me, they taste really good! Heavy salt, light crunch, not stale or too corn heavy. But their website says to treat all their products as "may contain allergen X" and they DO make peanut butter pretzels. So I'm too scared to ever buy from them again. But I am sad because these do taste good; much better than tostitos (and cheaper)! Booo.

Herr's Kettle Cooked Jalepeno Chips

These are good! They're a little tiny bit spicy, very easy to eat more than a serving of, and crunchy and not too thick. I think they're also nut free, or at least, I ate them. And they don't use peanut oil, so that's always good. Again, the slogan (make Herrs yours) disturbs me very much, but the chip here is good. I think basically all jalepeno flavored chips are good.

Herr's Kettle Cooked Boardwalk Salt & Vinegar Chips

I got this to pair with my #overit Rosé wine from Gia Coppola (long story), but they're pretty decent. Definitely better than plain potato chips, in any case. They have a strong vinegar bite - which I like. Also really crunchy. I don't think this is my favorite chip flavor though, I really like BBQ/all-dressed/ketchup more, but I do appreciate the unique vinegar-ness for a while. I think this family size bag was just too big of an investment, it's making me have mouth sores and feel queasy &etcetc, but that's because I ate like half the bag at once (560 sweet calories of pure chip). Anyway ...  this is fine.

Herr's Potato Chips

About the company of Herr's, I'm conflicted: they're local, and I drive past the factory on the way to my parents' and boyf's house, and they put up awesome Christmas lights in the winter that always make me smile. But their slogan is "Make Herr's yours", which always made me uncomfortable, because it's a play on either taking things from a woman or taking a woman -- right??? Anyway, mixed feelings on the company.

These chips are so standard, and I just don't care for plain potato chips (or fries, or bagels, or donuts, etc). Not Herr's fault, they are crunchy and just a little salty and that's all fine. I know I like some of their other flavors (ketchup, jalepeno, dill, BBQ) but these are just a waste of calories, in my opinion. I got them with a sandwich at Pat's, though, so I didn't want them to go to waste!
