Town House FlipSides Original Pretzel Crackers

This is a very salty pretzel. But on the flipside, it's a cracker. Hehe. I love a gimmick. It's like those 2-color Oreos but for savory snackers. They're definitely more cracker than pretzel (which is the tastier option). Something disappointing about these, though, is that the picture on the box made me think they'd be big, like a Pepperidge Farm cracker, but they are actually very small, probably half the size of the box pic. They're also pretty thin, so I really doubt they'd hold up to dipping. But they taste good all on their own: very salty pretzel side, very buttery cracker side. A serving is 5, which is like... hm... but I guess that's for the dippers. Would be good for school snackin'.

Snyder's Dipping Sticks Pretzels

So my first reaction to these was: I guess desperation snacks (for when I am away from home all day, e.g.) are less tasty when I'm not despo. Which is true, I'm sure, but then I realised I usually get Utz and these are Snyder's! Two great brands of pretzels that both have "nut free" messaging on the package! Only... these aren't so great. They kinda taste like nothing instead of tasting like pretzel. Maybe it's the smoke. Or maybe it's just the "dipping stick" shape, which is probably meant to be dipped, and I dippn't. Whatever the reason, although these are convenient, reliable at easing hunger, and I'm not allergic to them, they don't have any non-functional virtues. For that I suppose I must return to the candy aisle.

utz Classic Mini Twists

I've been doing this random-album-a-day review project (highly recommend, by the way, 10/10) and it's made me really aware of how much my mood and life influences my music ratings. At the same time, I think my food & drink ratings are not (as) susceptible to such things -- more variation comes from freshness/quality (and allergen confidence from servers, at restos). But both kinds of ratings do lend themselves to the strategy of "compare directly to the previous thing you had", and here, I am sorry to say, these mini twists are less good than the Large Thins (which are also twists, in the way that all non-rod pretzels are??). I think that if I had them in the other order, I would still find these to be worse (although I will come back and correct this if it turns out to be false). Because they are small ("mini"), the texture is more full-on bready 'zel, which I disprefer. More mealy, less fun and frivolous. Yes! Less fun, even though they're wee! A slight buttery vibe, which is weird. The color is even a little bit yellow. Maybe CC'd with the butter minis? No allergy concerns, so still a fine (fine meaning "okay", not fine meaning "foine") snack. But probably my last choice for Utz Pretzel, all else (expiry dates, price) being equal. I am happy that they're still innovating new sizes and properties for their osetensibly boring pretzel line, though!

Auntie Anne's Pretzel Dogs

This seems like it would be amazing, because duh, a pretzel and a hot dog, but in honesty it wasn't that good. Kind of like a pizza roll in its anticlimax. The taste was OK but it gave me a stomach ache. Maybe better to eat a hot dog and then some pretzel. I put mustard on it, and that was fine. I should just make hot dogs with cheese in crescent rolls. The ultimate in snaxx.

Super Pretzel Pretzel Dogs (Beef and Cheddar Cheese)

I probably should regret buying and eating these, but they're too little to regret. Plus, they were on sale for like 2.00 and I was in the mood for pigs in a blanket, which is basically what this was. Note you have to cook them for like 60 sec, not 30. But anyway, these are a little greasy and have a little bit of a weird aftertaste, but overall it's a wee hot dog in a nice pretzel bread. They taste good, but they aren't filling and they're nutritionally crap, so probably they don't taste good enough to overcome those things. Just make your own hot dog concoction at home.
