Hillandale Farms - Extra Large Eggs

More Hillandale eggs... how many variants are there?! These are Extra Large, which is the size I've grown accustomed to (although really I'd probably be better off with medium, since I don't love eggs). They really do come in this blue foam packaging, which I hate. Maybe it's to prevent breakage, but I still lost 1-2 eggs. They are also possibly glued to the container?? Or else so broken that the yolk glued them. They also don't tout any cage-free/free-range/humane adjectives, which I don't feel great about. What is my veg box (which refuses to sell meat, but sells a ton of vegan beanmeat and nut milk (much to my chagrin)) doin?! Maybe I'll have to Consider store eggs (or no eggs) if they keep sending these foamers. [britta voice] I can excuse eating animal products, but I draw the line at factory farming. 

Anyway, they taste fine. The color is definitely way whiter than Sauder's, and the yolk is less firm and plump (a true grade A, I guess) but in the end it's all egg. No major issues on the consumption front.

Hillandale Farms Large Brown Cage Free Eggs

Huh, Large eggs really are smaller than Jumbo eggs, aren't they? These are basically tiny eggs. I'm America-brained when it comes to egg sizes. Anyway, I accept whatever size egg the veg box (and egg box) delivery brings me, and I'm glad these are at least back to being cage-free. They expired within like a week, though, so that's disconcerting, and they also smelled like burning plastic when cooking. Unless my pan got a lil spare plastic on it from something else. Nevertheless!! They taste: like eggs. I dunno. I don't really like eggs, but they sure are protein.

Hillandale Farms Jumbo Eggs

These are commissary eggs! I'm also a little confused about why my veg box gave me them, since they aren't the cage free badbois I purchased. Also, fully 6/12 eggs arrived cracked, so my foam-package opinion is negative(r). Ah well. Taste-wise, they were fine: typical egg. Very thick shells with an astringent smell (washed in chemicals or somethin?). Jumbo size. Healthy looking yolk. But I miss Sauder's! Come back, Sauder's!

Sauder's Free Range Large Brown Eggs

Whew, things are bad over here, y'all. But these eggs are OK. Honestly they aren't as good as my usual white eggs, because those were jumbo and these are large and it turns out that large is actually small and jumbo is actually large. Starbucks-ass egg sizing!! Older hens lay larger eggs, so maybe there's a baby boom among chickens, which I guess is good. That's probably what's going on. No questions, please. 

But I digress. These are free range, which is good. Apart from being weirdly small, and brown, they also have thinner shells than I'm used to, with some red specks inside of unknown origin. Are they chicken parts?? Wee feet?? Blood?? Best not to think about such things. They taste fine. Only one was cracked. No complaints, because large is actually fine if you eat 2.

Easy Eggs

This 2 pack of small, kinda warm, kinda wet hard boiled eggs was just what the doctor (me) ordered (bought at the airport). Very useful, allergy friendly protein option. Not that delicious, but not that gross, either. Thanks, egg!

Vital Farms Pasture Raised Hard Boiled Eggs

These precooked eggs in a bag were surprisingly good. I don't really like eating eggs, especially plain, as they always make me a bit vommy and the taste is just "eh". But these eggs had no ill effects on me, and if anything I think they made me feel a bit better (the power of protein? idk). They were smaller than your average egg, and a bit wet due to the form factor of "being in a bag", but they do taste like eggs. A yellower yolk than normal, which their non-bagged eggs have too. It is hard for me to say "non-bagged eggs" (but that's not due to my recent brain issues; it always would have been). Anyway, I can usually boil my own eggs so I don't need this, but if I'm travelling again I will definitely look for these! They were a lifesaver! Yay egg!

Sauder's Cage Free Jumbo Eggs

I am becoming a real egg connoisseur. These eggs are pretty good. They have all the things you want from an egg: no cracks, not poison, no nuts that are involved with them, expiry date on the package, cage-free, taste like egg. They are pretty big too, which I guess is the jumbo part. They had a slightly less plump/bulgy yolk than other eggs did, but this didn't result in any real issues. When scrambled, they didn't taste as good, but I think this is because I am out of butter/margarine. When hard boiled (and not undercooked this time) they were wonderful! And peeled easily, too. Great hard boiled product. I got another carton of these this week and they were in the hot sun for a little too long and I'm not sure if I should eat them, but if I do it will be because they were good before.

Vital Farms Pasture Raised Eggs

Another egg review? Life is weird, y'all. These eggs are brown and pasture-raised, which is classy. They are supposedly smaller than normal, but they seemed like normal egg size to me (and the package says "large"). The expiry date is only 2 weeks out, so I need to eat these fast, but they seem plenty fresh at present. They looked to have a much yellower yolk than what I'm used to, which is apparently all down to the chicken's feed, so it didn't taste that different but I had the perception that they were more yolky even if they actually weren't. No complaints or special notes, but it's nice to have eggs in the house!

Cost: 6/10 (A little pricier than average - 4$ish)

Lesher Large Eggs

OK, it's kind of weird to review eggs, but it's what I'm eating and I'm excited because I got them without leaving the house! Presumably only because other people are now leaving the house more, which is concerning, but whatever. These are eggs. They have no date printed on them that I can see, which is a little bit concerning because I have had some bad egg-borne illness before. I tried the float test and they sank, which I thought was the bad one but is actually the good one! So, I scrambled em up (on the firm side) and put in a tortilla. It was scary but good. I happened to get a mosquito bite OR hive right after eating them so that was stressful, but I am fine now and not vomming as of yet. The eggs were big, with big yolks, and looked very plump and fresh in the pan. Would buy again for sure.
