Stouffer's Extra Cheese French Bread Pizza

Hmm, I didn't realise this is different than just "cheese" but apparently it is, at least in terms of packaging/nutrition info. I don't think they make non-extra cheese anymore though. Anyway, this is fine. Very similar to the other FBPs, but less interesting, and indeed, yes, with more cheese. More rectangular and less U-shaped, also, which is a plus for me. Not much to add here today folks.

Stouffer's French Bread Pizzas - Three Meat

Did I eat these because I'm getting sick, or am I getting sick because I ate these? The age old question. But these were good. I mean, "three meat" is probably the pizza type I'm least interested in, but my store didn't have any other options, and stouffer's are the only soy-free pizzas now. Freakin' soy protein. Somehow these guys made 3 meats without it! Why can't you [Red Baron, Tony, etc]?! So, the three meats are: roni pieces, snausage, and.. bacon?? I definitely did not taste any bacon. But that's good, because bacon sounds bad on pizza. Also, it's Hanukkah. Do not ask me the contents of the other meats please. These cook in the oven for 21 minutes, which is long but not that long when you have a billion things to do. I will buy them, or whatever flavor there is, again. Thank you sweet soy-free frozen meal of bread pizza.

Digiorno Personal Size Pepperoni - Hand-Tossed crust

There are things to like about this: no soy at all, a slogan of "pizza just for you" (damn straight), cheap, and multiple cooking options (I chose 3min microwave because my last Digiorno personal pizza had negligible oven gains). It's 740 calos per serving, which is a little high for my current lifestyle (bound to cause minor bodily distress), but surely better than a non-[pizza-just-for-me]. So - filling, convenient, safe. Pretty tasty, although there's a lot of bread and the sauce is the usual weirdly sweet digiorno sauce. But the ronis are good and it's ultimately cheesy bread, so yeah. Solid stuff.

Jus-Rol Pizza Crust Pre Rolled Dough - Large Family Size

Today I have a terrible headache. But that's not the fault of this pizza dough, which as always, I bought because it was the only kind at my store, and as always, is different than the kind they had last time. This one is a large rectangle, which I didn't realise til I opened it! It's so many cals! And a rectangle! But, even though I needed a circle, the dough is so easy to work with that it wasn't a problem. Tastes solid, cooks up well, and I really have no complaints (besides the calorie count).

DiGiorno Croissant Crust Four Cheese Frozen Pizza

Well, it sure isn't delivery. I only bought this because it was on sale, as is typical for frozen foods. This looked like a normal pizza in the pre-cooked phrase, but it's like 2000 calories! It tastes decent, the cheese is good/plentiful, but nothing earth shattering. When fresh I thought it was very similar to the school lunch slice pizza we had on Wednesdays in middle school, which was a special treat and the sauce was a uniquely weird flavor. I got the vibe less when it was reheated though, and to be honest it was less tasty reheated too. Alas.

Celeste Zesty 4 Cheese Pizza for One

Ooohhh Mama Celeste, something changed within you...something is not the same. Apparently this happened back in 2018 (which is probably why I haven't bought one of these since then) but I totally forgot that they got rid of the heating circle and changed the cooking instructions. The result is a totally not crispy crust, but not soft either, just styrofoamy. It's very much like eating one big, flat, bagel bite. Which is OK, but not what I prefer given how Celeste used to be (tasty!!). The cheese also has "fake cheese" as the first ingredient (which is like, potato flakes, water, oil?) and you can kinda tell the cheese isn't fully real cheese. The zest seems to be mostly oregano on top, maybe some pepper or onion/garlic, but nothing super strong. This was on sale, which is good because otherwise I'd have been disappointed. As it is, I just yearn for the old days.

Gino's East Frozen Deep Dish Pizza - Crumbled Italian Sausage & Pepperoni

This bad boy gave me massive heartburn, even though I didn't eat it all at once! I guess that's because it's like 2000 calories, go figure. It doesn't really seem like it should be, though -- it's not HUGE, and it's mostly doughy/floury crust. Not much sauce or even that much cheese, and the sauce that is there is very watery, very wet. The cheese is good, the sausage is just like Pizza Hut (but safe) so it's good, and the ronis are ronis. It's fine, but not worth the cals or price, I think.

Gino's East Deep Dish Pizza [frozen] - Creamy Spinach.& Cheese Blend

I got this because it was new to me and also on sale for 5$! That's a good deal in these parts. Also, it was small enough to fit in my dumb little reusable shopping bags. I guess Gino's is a real pizza place in Chicago, but I bet their real pizzas are better than this frozen one. (which they also sell online for like 35$, which is insane). It took a while to cook and smelled and looked good, but it was a lot of crust and the crust was very doughy. Not the worst crust, but with the weirdly chewy cheese (what is this, poutine?) and the rather bitter spinach, it was far from a dream 'za. Also like 4000 calos for a 2-person 'za, which is alarming. Maybe better than Digiorno's, but if it costs more than 5$, I don't recommend it. (Even then I'm not sure.)

Jus-Rol Round & Thin Pizza Crust

The random pizza crust I got the last time has been replaced with this other random pizza crust! Acme is like the lottery. Anyway, I was making round pizzas, so this round and thin crust actually worked perfectly. Even though I cooked it for a shorter time/higher heat than the package said, I think it came out fine. Nice crisp edges, normal doughy middle. Tasted pretty good, although whether that's due to the garlic cream sauce I put on or just the crust itself is hard to tell. Still, I thought the crust was tasty and I'd definitely use it again if it happens to be the crust my store has!

Newman's Own Mushroom Trio Pizza (pre-flax)

Alas, friends, this was on super sale because apparently now it comes with a "multigrain crust" full of flax, and I got a pre-flax one (at least according to the ingredients on the box). So I can never get it again! I also accidentally bought a flax one that I have to throw out since none of my friends want a flax frozen pizza. Lol. But I digress; this one was good for a frozen pizza -- not super oily or fatty, and no tomato sauce to make things disguistingly sweet. The mushrooms were a little wet, and the crust was kind of boring (but a good texture), but I thought the overall taste sensation was positive. Kind of like a restaurant flatbread, but less buttery (which is a good thing!).

DiGiorno Stuffed Crust Personal Pepperoni Pizza

I like the idea of a personal pizza, because I am an only child and want things to be just for me. And although I don't like DiGiorno typically, I guess I liked the full size version of this pizza. But the little one was less good, mainly because the stuffed crust was so firm and dried out that you couldn't even tell it was stuffed crust at all. The pizza also didn't have that "buttery" crust vibe I like, or any seasoning at all. It was very bland! Soft and tasteless pizza still isn't terrible, and it's soy free and a good size, so I'm thinking maybe cooking this in the oven instead of the microwave might at least solve the texture issue. I should give it another chance simply because I adore stuffed crust and Pizza Hut is nut city.

Update: I tried it in the oven! It did make the crust-cheese a more normal texture, but it still wasn't good. The sauce is just too sweet and gross, the crust cheese tastes like nothing, and I just wish it were better than it is. Oh well.

Stouffer's French Bread Pizza - Pepperoni

I've been on a slight frozen pizza kick, I guess because they're cheap and not over-easy to cook or over-satisfying. The rogi of frozen pizza! Anyway this flavor, also soy-free, is maybe even better than the supreme one because it ends up less burnt and more like a school pizza. Maybe better than plain cheese too because at least there's something to pick off of it and eat like a weirdo. Solid stuff, pretty similar to the other types.

Bagel Bites - Cheese, Sausage & Pepperoni

Bagel bites! What could be greater, than playing a game of golf with a baaagel? I haven't seen any bagel bites at my grocery store in forever -- I hope they're OK (and still a thing)! Miraculously, the meats in these have no soy, although the flavor doesn't add much over the cheese, in all honesty. I made this pack in the oven for once, and I will say, they were slightly better. But only just.

Stouffer's French Bread Pizza - Deluxe

My biggest complaint about these is that they are oh-so-slow to good for their size, and you gotta cook 'em in the oven! Usually when I want a frozen pizza, I'm so tired and ravenous, and that ~40 minute wait is just too much for me. That said, the eating experience is good on its own, they're a good size for 1 and not too saucey. Maybe a bit heavy on the crust. Biggest plus: these have snausage and roni, but they are soy free! Nice job, Stouffers.

Argilla Brewing Co at Pietro's Pizza

This place has a lot of good qualities: they actually answered my FB message about allergens (so rare!) and they answered that it was all basically nut-free except desserts. Hooray! The food and beer were also great, and the location is pretty close to me, with parking, and also not super crowded with undergrads since it's a driver.

The negatives: they don't take reservations, but were busy and we had to wait a while for a table (even though there were lots of empty tables -- I'm guessing they just didn't have enough workers, which is true basically everywhere these days). We also weren't told we could chill at an empty table while we waited, which seemed like a nice thing to do. So the whole check-in process was awkward. But the server at our table once we got it was perfectly fine.

I ordered a pizzo (personal size) with mushrooms and spinach, and it was a good size (I finished it and wasn't dyin') and tasty enough, although nothing earth shattering. I also got the Cherry Berry Whipped beer, which I really especially liked -- it was a milky opaque pink, not super fizzy, nice sour fruity beer.

Good times! I'm looking forward to going back either with family or boyf later.

Later: Ha, joke's on past-me, 'cause I no longer have a boyf and I hardly have any family! But I did go with my dad, and sadly, he did not like the pizza at all and they didn't have fish. So it was a bust for him. For me, I got the Kennett personal pizzo, which was solid, good cheese (ate it all) and a Pineapple Citrus Whipped beer, which I also especially liked. Their beers are great! Their pizza is good! Someone go here with me! :p

Classico Traditional Pizza Sauce

This was good! You can't tell from the picture, but the jar is cute and little, not like a big pasta sauce jar. I still didn't use it all, of course. It tasted like pizza sauce, not too sweet or weird or anything. Very cool.

Wewalka Classic Pizza Crust

This was great, and somehow it even said that it was nut free! Amazing, since I had happened upon it in the refrigerated aisle and was honestly just looking for Pillsbury or something. It is already formed into a large, rectangular crust, though, so my shaping it into a small circle of dough wasn't easy, but I did it anyway, and it cooked up nicely and was so layered and buttery and flaky. It was really nice stuff.

Bagel Bites - Cheese & Pepperoni

When pizza's on a bagel? That's good. I had been avoiding this flavor for I while 'cause I thought it had soy in the roni, but it actually doesn't! And these aren't bad tasting at all - I guess they're roughly equal to cheese in my taste rating, but guess these have more protein? Still a mild flavor, mostly "bread" notes, and they always cook unevenly, but I like 'em for a snackmeal.

Lucille Restaurant

Minor drama ensued when we tried to pick a dinner place on a Covid-Sunday in Madison (everything nut free was far or closed)! Eventually we landed here, on this hip pizza place. We split Cheese Curds as an app, and let's just say, it's no poutine. Maybe they weren't great ones, but they basically were like cold mozz sticks. The ranch sauce was good, the marinara was marinara. I ate almost all of them anyway because I'm an animal, but it didn't impress me.

Then we got 'The Standard' steel pan pizza (see photo), because I heard that "Madison Pizza" is apparently a style and I wanted to try the local hotness. The local hotness is weird -- basically a baby chicago pizza, very very thick crust, tasted good but supremely filling and not my platonic ideal of pizza. Quinn thought "no thank you". Ah well, I didn't die!

Mama Julianne's

This was a cute little place near my grandparents' house. They had a nice menu with lots of italian classics, and nothing that looked especially nutty. I got a slice of pizza and it was good and filling (thick crust). There was a little salad too, which was cute. My parents enjoyed the hot subs they got as well.
