Oscar Mayer Bologna

Bologna is gross unless it's sweet bologna. There, I said it. I know it sounds like the "sweet" meat would be the gross one, trust me, I know, but I just can't get into this amorphous lunch meat. I've tried it fried, I've tried it with cheese, I've tried it in rice like the little hot dog meat pieces it is, but none of it works for me. None of it makes me vom or anything, I just don't like it. At its best, it is a neutral mix of italian meats & hot dog flavors, that you can kind of mask with sauces or other toppings. Why would someone make a hot dog into deli meat? Like, what are we doing here, guys? At least you get a lot of slices in one pack. And as far as I know, it's allergy-free.

Lucerne - Provolone Slices

This was alright, although much like my recently reviewed meats, it wasn't my favorite iteration of a sliced cheese. To be honest, it might be one of my least favorite iterations! But it was cheap enough and had plenty of slices that didn't go bad or dry or anything unseemly like that. So it was fine. Would I rather have some deli cheese, of course. Would I rather have Kraft singles, maybe I would. But it was fine.

Hormel Natural Choice Uncured Hard Salami

This tastes like salami, so that's good. But it's not great salami. I mean, I'm not a huge connoisseur of the stuff anyway, but I've had meat and cheese trays, and Italian subs, and sweet bologna, and those all had better tasting meat than this. Still, it serves the purpose of being a slightly spicy oily meat circle, not very sweet and quite thin. You do get like 15 slices or something, which is plenty. I got this because it was the only option in the store, so I guess it worked fine for my needs. Might consider a meat + cheese tray if I just wanted a salami snack though.

Liscio's No-Point Rolls - 12 pack

These came in a bag of 12 rolls in my Acme bakery. I got it because it had an ingredients list with no nuts, but it wasn't store-bought crap white bread, you know? But unfortunately these were terrible, texture-wise: so so so chewy and hard to eat. The taste is fine, totally unremarkable, but the texture was a killer. They also aren't perforated so you have to rip into them like an animal. But today I had a revelation: I can toast the rolls if I rip them just right. Toasting is a saving grace and bumps these up to useable, even useable in a decent sandwich. Nice work, toaster!

Subway

Since I'm apparently in a big breakfast-all-day kick, I would be remiss not to mention Subway, one of the few national chains that offers the glorious all day breakfast (at least at most of their locations). They also offer regular lunch subs, and sometimes soups and pizzas and salads and (new!) wraps, but really it's a sub place. They also have frequent deals which appeal to me (sub of the day, sub of the month, etc) and those special edition Lay's flavors. So there are a lot of good things here. The only nuts are in the cookies, which are kept in a case, so I generally feel pretty safe about it, too. Subway has a very distinctive smell, and to be honest, it doesn't taste that good, but it's filling, fast, highly customizable, and healthy-ish. Whenever I don't know what I want to eat, I get Subway instead.

Turkey Breast: This is "old reliable". Good hot or cold, with wheat or white bread, pickles or cucumber, it's a solid contender.

Subway Club: I love that this has roast beef! The other meats are "whatever" but somehow this is still under 400 calories with delicious roast beef. Pairs with yellow mustard and american cheese (IMO).

Ham, Egg, and Cheese: Good for that breakfast mood, especially with spinach and tomato and mustard. You have to go with flatbread for this one. White and yellow egg are basically the same, so get white!

Cost: 7/10 (Around 6$ for two meals, although I miss those 5, 5 dollar, 5 dollar footlong days)

Capriotti's Sandwich Shop

Classic sandwich shop! It tastes very good, and their sandwich "the bobbie" is one people talk about for being a very delaware-y sandwich. It consists of turkey, mayo, stuffing, and cranberry sauce, which is as delicious as it sounds! Also apt to give me stomach pains if I'm not careful :P. But it is a very tasty sandwich, and their cheesesteaks are good as well. A little pricy, but satisfying enough to be worth it once in a while.

Wawa

Specifically, Wawa Hoagie Fest! A magical time in late summer where all hoagies are less than 5 dollars. And they're good, my friends. They're good. Plus you get to order using a touchscreen where you can ALSO order cawffees. Anyway, it's a good time. Here are some sandies I got:

~

Beef cheesesteak [with american cheese, sautéed onion, tomato, lettuce]: pretty good. Makes you think "I'm gonna be fat now", but good! :9

Roast Beef with horseradish sauce Club Sandwich [as offered]: good, but too horseradishy after all. I liked it the first time, but now I'm "over it". :P

BBQ Pork [with lettuce?]: not great. Way too dry, hardly any BBQ sauce, and the bread was weird. Weird!

Egg+sausage [with cheddar cheese, tomato]: Would be better without tomato! Good but vommy.

Chicken Corn Chowder: This is a very good soup. Unfortunately, it makes me a little bit itchy, even though there are no peas or beans. The power of soy! I will get a small one sometimes, though. A little cheesy, with chicken and potatoes and carrots and corn.

Sara Lee 100% Whole Wheat Bread

My favorite bread for ham sandwiches! This is great tasting without being too "grainy" or too white. It's very mild but a good texture, a little fluffy but not too overwhelming. I really like this bread and was so happy to discover it! It's also got a decent amount of fiber per slice (I think 2g?) and so that's good too. Great for sandwiches and toast. A+, bread!
