Fun Dip Candy

There's something pretty wacky about Fun Dip. Look no further than the ostensible brand name (Lik-M-Aid?) or the name of the red flavor, "Cherry Yum Diddly Dip". But this is a classic candy from my childhood, and it's nut free both pre- and post-Wonka, so I see it as wacky-good.

Cherry Yum Diddly Dip isn't as good as the blue flavor, which is rare for candy because usually red is best. Obviously it's just red sugar, but the grains of sugar felt "thinner" with the blue one, and these didn't really taste that good. The stick tastes like mildly sweet candy, a good finish to the sweet sugar "dip". More nostalgic than good, and maybe even more bad than good. But still, 6/10.

Razz Apple Magic Dip is far superior, but I'm not sure why. Is it because the sugar feels thinner? Is it somehow less sweet (very rare for blue raspberry candies?) It's mysterious, but the color change from blue to green with water (or saliva) is pretty fun, so that doesn't hurt. A classic nostalgic candy. Also, makes your mouth blue. 7/10

Laffy Taffy

What's a type of bagel and what you deserve? Everything. That's a wholesome joke from a laffy taffy. How can you not love them? Plus they are nut free, like most Wonka things. I've always liked Laffy Taffy, even since I got them as a ticket prize from my local minigolf place/arcade as a tiny babby. Unfortunately, this recent batch of them was melted so they really stuck to the wrappers, which was annoying. I could have tried putting them in the fridge, I guess, but I didn't do that. They were still chewy and juicy, and with good flavors. The strawberry is unique, the grape is good for grape, the banana is so unique and the one that makes me the most deeply nostalgic, and the apple was always my favorite one (and the rarest one). All are tasty.

SweeTarts Hearts

The spelling of Sweetarts is very unintuitive. Anyway, I had these in a little Valentine's day gift pack, which was just the right size. Sweet-Tarts (I spell how I want!) have never been my favorite candy, but they're allergy-safe so I appreciate that. The taste is, as you might expect, very sweet and a little bit tart. The texture is firm but also a little chalky. The different colors are distinct flavors, but only barely distinct. Nice to have as a little snack pack.

Bottle Caps

I used to LOVE these as a kid, I think because they were so rare and also they came in small packages. Now I can easily buy a box with 13 servings in it for 1$. So cheap! But that means they aren't nearly as alluring, even though they are still a fun novelty. These are basically sweet-tarts, but in 5 soda flavors. The brown ones (cola and root beer) are my favorites, then cherry, then grape, then orange. They are a little softer than sweet tarts although I don't know if that's intentional or due to humidity, but I like it all the same. These are also not sour at all. They are very sweet and you should not eat too many at once. But in moderation they are a fun, good-tasting candy if you like fruit candy of this type.

Chewy Sweettarts

I went to Smart and Final the other day and was looking for a good allergen-safe candy I could treat myself to. I decided on a bag of chewy sweet tarts, since I couldn't remember how they tasted. Note to self: a lot like actual sweetarts, i.e., TART. Whoops. They're pretty good - sweet, too, I mean, and small and uniquely flavored to some extent. I ate quite a few, but then I developed a sore on my tongue from the sours! Yikes! OK, anyway, these aren't my favorite candy, but if you like sour stuff, I bet these are great for you.

At the same time, it's pretty rare to find allergen-free Wonka candy nowadays! So, if you want something different, maybe these are a good bet. You can get them for pretty cheap on Amazon.
