Welch's Fruitfuls - Strawberry

These are not very good. I like fruit snacks, but even so. It fills no niche, being neither filling (50 cals?!) nor healthy (not an excellent source of vitamin C (23mg), despite the lying box) nor delicious. The texture is not bad -- slimy, pliable, bendy, not too sticky. The smell is intriguing (weed-gummy-esque). The taste is "strawberry, but not sweet strawberry, but not really sour strawberry, almost on-the-verge-of-bitter strawberry". Actually, saying this has made me appreciate it a bit more. I guess it has some nuance. But it's not sweet and delicious, which is what I really want. I should buy more cookies.

Mott's Fruit Flavored Snacks - Berry

As a fan of the original flavor ("assorted fruit") I looked forward to this fun new experience of berry flavor. But much like with taco bell taco shells, I perceived no flavor difference between berry and assorted fruit! I would think something (else) is wrong with me, except that the ingredients are essentially the same for both flavors, so it's all down to branding and style.

These are indeed different berry-adjacent shapes and colors, including cherry (arguably, not a berry) and pink (arguably, not the color of a berry). So, I like these a lot, but not in a fun new way, just in a familiar old way. Good texture, pleasant sweet taste. The highlight is that the wrappers now have Spanish/English translations of various Noun-Adjective pairs, mostly animals (gato blanco) and items in the natural world (shiny star). The Spanish includes articles, which makes sense because of Spanish, but the English doesn't, which doesn't make sense from a translation perspective and is why I could never aspire to design Mott's fruit snacks wrappers!

Welch's Juicefuls - Berry Blast

Ho hum. I usually like fruit snacks, but these are no Motts. The idea of a gusher-y snack is appealing, but these don't gush at all, they only dribble if you suckle. Not great! I do like that there are different shapes in different flavors, but they aren't super identifiable. The one I think is blueberry is yellow and tastes like laundry, but it is unique. The others are mainly vague berry and the texture is too chewy. Obviously I eat them but I don't love it or even really like it that much.

You Love Fruit - SuperBerry Fruit Leather

Uh oh! Allergy alert: this has mango (sus) and goji berry (VERY SUS) and it gave me Allergy. I got a "grape jelly" feeling aka "associated with PB" feeling. No bueno. Never again the goji berry (or mango for that matter) times. I do like the format though -- a different non-goji or mango flavor would be great!

Mott's Apple Orchard Fruit Snacks

Wuh oh. I don't know if these were stored next to some soap or if they just taste like that. I think they just taste like that. Very apple-juice flavored, but also I use Apple Mango Tango Gain and they taste like that (smells) too. The texture is good as always and they are cute, but I prefer the OG Motts. Better once you have a few though!

That's it - Apple & Blueberries

The taste or texture of this are not great. It's thick and chewy and a bit dry, like a fruit jerky. Tastes like apple, I guess, but not delicious apple, more like OK apple. The plus side is, I love the ethos. Just two ingredos?! That's so allergy friendly! And clean! And the label reflects it! So I like it for that, even if I don't actually looove the product. Blueberries don't come through much -- I think all of these are basically just apple. Lol.

Bluey Fruit Snacks

Do I have food poisoning? Covid? Stomach flu? Or is my diet just chips and fruit snacks and my body is in a full scale rebellion? It's not clear. But I did eat these, anyway. Compared to a Mott's fruit snack, these are stickier and sweeter. The taste is also more pineapple-y on the whole. They're more like candy, which I guess tastes good, but it hurts my teeth a bit. Also I'm vommy anyway. I do like Bluey though, so that helps.

Annie's Organic Bees, Bugs, and Butterflies Fruit Snacks

Aw, these are so thematic! The shapes are really cute, and you can truly smell and taste the honey in these! Honey is kind of weird in fruit snacks, though. But the firmness is just what I like, these aren't chewy but instead nice and firm/pliable. The taste is OK, even if the honey notes aren't my favorite. The three different flavors are different, but not different enough for me to rank them, really. They don't say it on the package but there are also bunny shapes in here, too! The four Bs!

YumEarth Tropical Fruit Snacks

Ooh, tropical. I do like the little pineapple fruit snack design. So these have the classic firm texture that I like from YumEarth, although the taste of tropical is less good for me than regular fruit, even as it's still fine. Basically tastes like the juice from Dole tropical fruit cans. Also, there were a few firm little bits throughout and I'm not sure why. Still a solid snack though.

Organic Cosmic Carrot Chews - Apple Cinnamon Asteroid

Much like the cherry flavor of these, there is still quite a mulchy taste (and a normal dried fruit texture), but the cinnamon flavor here goes with "dirt and plants" a little better than does cherry, so I slightly prefer this flavor. Still, they're kinda gross.

Organic Cosmic Carrot Chews - Sour Cherry Berry Blast Off

Carrot chews? I wondered to myself. They sound weird. And reader, they were weird. Cute packaging, and nut-free, but alas, they taste like a plant store. The texture of dried fruit with the smell of Earth. At least they have veg in, so I'll eat em.

Nature's Bandits Mango apple fruit stix

These are really quite good! Definitely a top tier fruit snack. They do taste strongly of mango, which is a top fruit for me, they have that nice pliable texture, and they're represented by a cute raccoon. Just wish there were more little stix in the bag!

Nature's Bandits Blueberry fruit stix

Gotta love this cute lil racoon mascot. As with the other flavors, these are a pleasant texture -- not too chewy or sticky. They are a little bit too sweet for my preference, and they taste more like apple/grape than blueberry, perhaps, but they're still pretty darn good/satisfying for a fruit snack. Plus, mild veggie content!

Mott's Fruit Flavored Snacks

I had a dangerous addiction to these fruit snacks for a few weeks there. They're nice and firm textured, and the flavors are pleasant and juicy. And they're shaped like different fruits, which is very cute. But one is a CARROT shape?! Don't worry, none of them taste like carrot, they all taste basically the same. Good.

YumEarth Organic Fruit Snacks - Favorites

This one time, possibly prior to the existence of this blog?, I bought a huge case of these (in older packaging) on Amazon because I thought they were so good. But the more I ate them, the more I was like "hm, these actually aren't very good." They have a very distinct (weird?) taste and texture. The texture is firm and not sticky, and so I like that very much. But the taste is something like....tropical fruit + chemical? A little odd, a little mineral-oily in my mouth. The point being, these are fine for an occasional snack but not for a whole case. Also, I wonder if the non "favorites" flavor(s) are better!

SunRype FruitSource Bar - Apple Strawberry

This is really just fruit juice, so it's not necessarily a healthy treat - not much fiber or vitamin or anything good for you, and lots of sugar (although "natural" sugar). It's pretty thick and filling though, and I like the strawberry flavor that does come through. Not bad, considering the genre.

Fruit by the Foot Mini Feet - Berry Tie-Dye

Well, I may not be 6 feet tall, but I'm definitely 6 mini-feet tall. I wished this snack came in regular feet, which I guess means I liked it. A classic tasty fruit snack from my childhood, fun to eat and not too thick or sweet or weird. Good stuff.

Pure Organic Layered Fruit Bar - Pineapple & Passionfruit

Hey, not only is this organic, it's also gluten free and soy free! Wow! Thanks so much, Pure Organic. Dumb companies. I'm in a cranky mood because my Covid Shot #1 made me real sick and I have a lot to do for work+school (as per usj). ANYWAY. This is pretty good texture-wise, it's skinny and pliable. The taste is OK - a strong "tropical fruit" vibe. Just wish the nut allergy info weren't so gosh darn nebulous. NUT ALLERGY GIRLS ALSO LIKE FRUIT SNACKS THANK YOU

Wild Made Fruit Punch Fruit Roll

The taste of this was okay, and the texture was very thin yet super firm to bite into & hard to chew. Not chewy, more like beef jerky or now and laters, but thin. Weird! I think this is better than the average fruit strip just because it's different, but certainly not perfect. The taste was mainly grape juice flavor, which I like just fine. Better than apple boring snoozers. Not really a fruit "roll" and not really fruit punch flavor, though.

Bob Snail Apple-Strawberry Stripe

This is a very "random" fruit strip! It is Ukrainian, which makes sense because "Bob Snail" is one of those just-weird-enough names to seem non-English and there it is. Their website is also hilarious, and to be honest I love the whole graphic design of this product line. But, I couldn't find any allergy info (in any language), so that is not great. It seems like they only make fruit bars though, so I ate it. The taste was pretty much a typical fruit bar; nothing terrible or amazing, so probably not worth the allergy risk unless you know Ukrainian and can contact the owners.
