YumEarth Sour Littles

I don't like nominal "littles", but I do like sour patch kids, and allergy free candy, so this seems promising. Now that many of the allergy free companies have shut down or reduced/changed their products (enjoy life, built bars, madegood, etc), yumearth is really holding the line. Are they any good? Sometimes. These little packs are only 50 calos, and they're also vegan and dye free, so at least they're inclusive. The actual product is no sour patch kid, though. It tastes like their regular gummies (weirdly tropical fruit heavy) with some sour sugar sprinkles on top (but not that sour). The strawberry tastes like kiwi (which is OK, but gives me allergy stress, ironically enough), the lemon tastes like soapy armpits (very bizarre), and the blue raspberry tastes like blue raspberry (hey, 1/3 ain't bad). Oh well, they tried. The texture is also much chewier than a sour patch lad. If I could eat only the blue ones, I'd be feelin' good!

YumEarth Blue Raspberry Candy Canes

I gave up not eating candy canes for Lent.

I always had the perception that all non-mint candy canes are inferior and gross, but since most candy canes are candy may-contains I don't have that much experience to draw from. These are giving me an additional pro-mint data point. But they're fine. Allergy friendly, weren't broken, no artificial colors, taste moderately pleasant. Sweet and kinda fruity. But a cane is actually a dumb-as-hell shape for a candy to be. Who asked for this? By buying it, I fear that I was. Oopsy.

YumEarth Tropical Fruit Snacks

Ooh, tropical. I do like the little pineapple fruit snack design. So these have the classic firm texture that I like from YumEarth, although the taste of tropical is less good for me than regular fruit, even as it's still fine. Basically tastes like the juice from Dole tropical fruit cans. Also, there were a few firm little bits throughout and I'm not sure why. Still a solid snack though.

YumEarth Organic Fruit Snacks - Favorites

This one time, possibly prior to the existence of this blog?, I bought a huge case of these (in older packaging) on Amazon because I thought they were so good. But the more I ate them, the more I was like "hm, these actually aren't very good." They have a very distinct (weird?) taste and texture. The texture is firm and not sticky, and so I like that very much. But the taste is something like....tropical fruit + chemical? A little odd, a little mineral-oily in my mouth. The point being, these are fine for an occasional snack but not for a whole case. Also, I wonder if the non "favorites" flavor(s) are better!

YumEarth Giggles

I get that "Giggles" is supposed to evoke "Skittles", but my professional linguist opinion is that "Giggles" is a weird name for a candy. Weirder than "Chuckles" even. Anyway, these are essentially allergen free Skittles. I mean, do skittles have allergens? Well, I guess they have food coloring in them, which isn't a Top8 but which is probably annoying if you like fruit candy but have that allergy. So I'm in support even though I can just, yanno, buy Skittles. The taste of these is unfortunately way off-base. It has a weird chemical flavor to me -- soapy almost? The texture is right, and overall they did get better as I ate them, but I don't know if I'd go for these again. The green had a good flavor, and purple and yellow were also distinct and decent, but the red and orange were the most "off" to me. Fun fact: this has spirulina in, which I was scared I was allergic to, but I guess I can handle at least this small amount! Woo!

YumEarth Candy Corn

Ah, it's so hard to find nut free candy corn! So I appreciate YumEarth pumping this out. This tasted mostly like normal candy corn, but unfortunately it wasn't quite there. It was a little "off", and the colors especially were really dark and muted which made it look funky. I wouldn't eat this if I just saw it in a bowl or something, even if someone told me it was safe, lol. Maybe the Jelly Belly brand version is better, but I seem to remember that being too sweet and not the right texture. Alas. Still - I like candy corn.

YumEarth Gummy Fruits

These are very tasty for fruit gummies! Usually gummies are too chewy but these have a great, firm texture that I really like. And the taste has a nice mild sweet fruitiness. The only downside is that these little packs don't have very much food in them, but they make a great snack otherwise.

YumEarth Organic Hard Candies - Favorite Fruits

I was surprised to get these, since I'm so used to the lollypops and had never seen the hard candy version before. Apparently they have other flavors, like mint?! But I got two fruit flavored ones, the flavors of which were unmarked so I had to guess at it. These are small and even though the stick on lollipops annoys me, I think I prefer lollypop to hard candies if the flavors are the same. Easier to choke on these guys so I need to pay attention to my consumption, and I eat sweets to relax darn it!

watermelon: I wasn't sure if this was strawberry or watermelon (it's plain pink colored), but I think it's watermelon. It tastes OK, pretty identical to the lollipop version in my opinion. Not super exciting. 5/10

peach: This was half yellow, half orange. It tasted almost like orange flavor rather than peach! A sweet and citrusy flavor. I liked this pretty well. 6/10

pomegranate: This was a dark red-purply color. It tastes a lot like the lollipops! Not my favorite flavor but it's ok. 5/10

strawberry: This was half pink, half red. It tastes a lot like the lollipops also! Nice sweetness, but not complex in any way. Not as good as those strawberry wrapper classic hard candies, sadly. 5/10

cherry: I think this was cherry? It was plain dark pink color, so it might have been pomegranate. It tastes vaguely like cherry though. It is OK, but not amazing. I think thinking that it is cherry makes it taste better than thinking it is pomegranate...maybe. 6/10

Yum Earth Organic Lollipops

So, these lollipops really get around in the gluten-free/organic/whole foods sector, but they're also nut free, and therefore I am interested in them. From YumEarth (originally called Yummy Earth -- good change, I think), these come in a bunch of different flavors, but each pop is about 70 calories and a nice size.

They are also made with real fruit extract, but like....it's still a lollipop. Health food this is not.

The flavors (at least as of now) are: Strawberry, Grape, Mango, Peach, Berry, Pomegranate, Watermelon, and Cherry. I like the Cherry, Grape, and Peach best, they all have bright, strong flavors. The berry is fine, but I'm not really sure which berry it's supposed to taste like. Maybe the always mysterious blue raspberry? The pomegranate, strawberry, and watermelon are OK, but not amazing. Mango is the prettiest colors (yellow and gold!) but it's not as good as the others. The nice thing about these is that they're pretty easy to buy both online and in stores, and they aren't super expensive even though they're gluten-free/organic/etc. A nice treat for the common folk, if you will. I'm happy to have a few of these a month; they're a nice sweet treat that doesn't make you feel like I-just-ate-a-box-of-oreos garbage.

Sour Apple Tart: So this is a flavor I had never seen before, but I got one and it had the (very very old?) YummyEarth labelling. However, it's a freakin' lolly, so I ate it regardless of the fact that it was probably 5+ years old. And it was good! Probably the best of the flavors -- not too sweet, just a nice strong sour apple, kind of like a Jolly Rancher. Alas, I'll probably never have it again. 7/10
