Vermont Nut Free Peppermint Crunch Bark

Ahoy-hoy, friends. I just got back from the dentist, so it's a perfect time to review a cronchy candy! One weird situation with this bark is that it's 6 servings but comes in 4 long pieces. What am I supposed to do with that? It's obviously 4 servings. Gosh. Otherwise, it's pretty good. A little too thick to actually chomp on, but the chocolate (layered dark and white) is good, and the mints aren't too crunchy or too minty. I do prefer the white half but at least it's a noticeable amount of the choco ratio. Better than the Dean's Sweets version (though I love them as people), and better than the VNF pretzel bark (though that sounds better on paper)!

Vermont Nut Free Skippers (Milk Chocolate)

These are basically nut-free M&Ms, which is great. The only kinda weird thing is that instead of blue, there's a tan colored one, which reads as "ah! peanut!" colored, so it's a weird mind trip. But I got over that pretty quickly. This big bag is apparently 15 servings, so, we'll see :)

Vermont Nut Free Chocolate Twists

Why are these called chocolate twists instead of sprinkled milk chocolate covered pretzels, I don't know. But they are delicious! This was a sweet Christmas gift for Me and I like it very much. It's cute, and we already know I adore the VNF chocolate covered pretzels without sprinkles, but luckily these sprinkles are the good ones -- the nice, soft, sweet ones you'd get at an ice cream place, and not some weird ones you keep in your kitchen. They taste like cake icing, which is sweet and tasty and a nice soft texture. So, to conclude: these are delicious. And at 150 cals for 4 pretzels, not as bad for you as an oreo!

Vermont Nut Free Raisin Clusters

So, these are really just chocolate with some raisins in it, poured into these mini-muffin liners. Nothing super fancy, but there's a decent number of raisins throughout, and the milk choco is good and not too firm to bite, so these are good! Just not super creative.

Vermont Nut Free Buttercreams (Milk)

Apparently I'm pretty into buttercreams. I got these from my auntie for Christmas, but it was only the milk chocolate ones (sorry for the inaccurate picture). I suspect I wouldn't like the dark choco ones as much, though! Anyway, although when these were in the Grand Assortment I didn't like them as much, now I like them. They are cool. A little smaller than truffles but basically like truffles; inside is sugar + butter ("creamed" butter??) but it kind of tastes like an extra thick and sweet marshmallow filling. I don't think these were quiiite as tasty as the Dean's Sweets Vanilla Buttercream, but it's similar in spirit and I like it a lot. It reminds me of these chocolate covered marshmallow eggs that my parents got special for Easter, back when I ate may-contains or whatever. Nice.

Vermont Nut Free Pretzel Caramel Bark

I had pretty lofty expectations of this, but I did not get what I expected. This is frankly mediocre chocolate, soft (stale?) tasteless pretzels, and "caramel" that was pretty much indistinguishable from the chocolate. I think it might have just been very old? Not sure, but I wouldn't risk getting this again. Alas.

Vermont Nut Free Star of David Chocolate Pop

This was great! First of all, I only got it because it was on super sale, and not because I'm at all religious, but I think there's a joke to be made there. Anyway, the chocolate was a good texture and tasted how I'd expect milk chocolate to taste, so that was a relief. Plus it was a fun shape to bite. The downside is that at the end it got kind of messy as bits fell off the stick. But that's just part of the fun! About 350 calories, so a decadent treat.

Vermont Nut Free White Chocolate Ghost Shape

I had to make this pic extra bad for the lols. Sorry mates. Anyway, I always loved white chocolate as a kid (it was my favorite kind of chocolate easter bunny, back when I could eat whatever), but sadly this VNF white choco isn't as good as it should be. Wah. It just doesn't taste right, not creamy enough I guess. I do love the little smile expression on him though.

Vermont Nut Free Milk Chocolate - Witch Shape

OK, sorry for the janky pic of a dark chocolate witch shape instead, I ate mine too fast! Anyway, this is obviously from Halloween clearance, so maybe that's why the texture of this felt oddly too soft for my taste. I dunno, but the taste was fine. It's no truffle though.

Vermont Nut Free Grand Assortment

My boyf got this for us to split on Valentine's Day (at my, uh, gentle hinting?) which was very fun and good. I love truffles, but this is the canonical 6 truffles (mostly good) plus a few other things: caramels (milk and dark, both salty and delicious, and fairly firm caramel), raisin clusters (tastes like raisinettes glued together, with lots of nice choco - very nice), and crunchy clusters (choco with like crisped rice - fine). There are also buttercreams (cherry and ....orange?) which I'm not crazy about, but which are decent choco type things nevertheless. There are no labels here, which is kind of frustrating, but nothing is terrible and many things are great. Just a lot of fun. You get 2 of each type of thing, I think (6x2)?

Vermont Nut Free - Bag of Cats (Milk Chocolate)

These come in either milk or dark chocolate, and are shaped like cats. Very fun. I got the milk chocolate ones, and to be honest, they had a little bit of a weird taste, not sure what it was. But at the same time, they were good, and again, they are shaped like cats. And nut free. So I like this.

Vermont Nut Free Pumpkin Fudge

I know it's January, but this was for sale so I bought it. Whatevz, it didn't make me ill! This is white fudge and not chocolate fudge, which I don't actually know if I've had before this. But it was good. Very dense, soft, sweet and tasting like pumpkin spice flavor. A really creamy texture. I don't have a lot of fudge experience so it was nice to have a safe treat like this. It lasted a long time, too, because it's so dense. Didn't taste like an "allergy treat" at all, which is a big plus. I would try another flavor!

Vermont Nut Free Chocolate Covered Pretzels - Assorted

Yum, dude. I got these at an allergy-friendly store in Lancaster, and I thought these were super expensive (8$) but that's how much they are online, too, and at least I didn't have to pay shipping. Just that whole "don't die" tax I guess. Anyway, these are delicious. All three kinds of chocolate (milk/white/dark) are tasty and what you want out of a choco pretzel. They weren't super crunchy, but it wasn't distracting. I ate these over like 2 days. It was glorious. I wish I had more now.

Vermont Nut Free Advent Calendar

Dark Choco: Aww, my parents got me this, which is super sweet of them since it's nut free and all. However, I don't LOVE dark chocolate enough to look forward to it every day (don't tell them). Still, the setup is super cute. At first I thought each day's choco would be identical, and while food-wise they are, each is wrapped in different color foil and the molds are different. They are all squares but one has a raised snowman, one a santa, one a wreath, etc. The taste is basically "standard dark chocolate", which is fine and I guess healthier than milk choco(?) but it's not exotic or salted or creamy or anything that makes me go "wow! a special treat!. Despite that, the conceit of one-a-day candy is lovely, and they do make a milk chocolate one which is probably even better.

Milk Choco: 2025 Me bought herself the milk choco version, and she made a great call. I love advent calendars and the milk choco tastes good. Nice 'n creamy, cute, small portions, something to look forward to in the dark times (sunset at 4.30pm). Same design as the 2017 dark, so the intrigue factor is low, but the delight factor is still pretty darn high.

Vermont Nut Free School of (Chocolate) Fish

They swam into my heart, all right! These tasty chocolate fish are a little bigger than a Hershey's Kiss, in terms of cubic area, but way tastier! They're creamy and satisfying to bite into. Not much else to say, really. If you're looking for some smallish fish-shaped nut-free milk chocolates in a bag (and who isn't!) you should definitely check these out. Yum.

Vermont Nut Free Truffles (6 flavors)

Mmm, nut-free truffles, a dream come true! These guys really don't disappoint, they're packed attractively in a little box and for the most part, they taste great. My flavor breakdown is as follows:
Dark Raspberry Truffles - These are dark chocolate with 3 lines of dark chocolate on top. I really like this flavor, although it's very rich and dark-chocolatey overall, so definitely don't eat the whole thing in one bite!
Mocha Truffles - These are milk chocolate with several lines of dark chocolate drizzled on top. I'm not a huge mocha fan, but given that, these were very good and I'd never turn one down. The inside is a dark chocolate/mocha filling, and it goes nicely with the milk choco outside. If you actually LIKE mocha, I'm sure you'd love this truffle.
Milk Chocolate Truffles - these are GREAT! Probably my favorite flavor. They're milk chocolate with a spiral of milk chocolate on top. The inside doesn't taste like regular chocolate, though - it's very very soft and creamy, and I originally thought it was supposed to be caramel flavored. It reminds me a little of a Cadbury caramel egg, only tastier. Highly recommended!
Dark Chocolate Truffles - Pretty tasty! These are dark chocolate with a dark chocolate 'X' on top. They're also quite rich, but a little less so than the raspberry ones. Pretty straightforward - smooth dark chocolate in a truffle.
Black Forest Truffles - A million 'yum's! These are dark chocolate with white chocolate stripes, and the inside is a cherry/milk chocolate/creamy delight. Not too fruity or saccharine like straight up chocolate covered cherries (which I also love) but sweet, and, again, a bit caramely. Very good, definitely one of my favorites.
Orange-Apricot Truffles - these are kind of odd. they're white chocolate with a bit of dried apricot on top and a small 'x' of milk chocolate - they look very cute, but the inside is a strange combo of white chocolate/orange flavor with bits of dried apricots throughout. I think the white chocolate has a strange aftertaste (not just a fluke, then) and the bits of apricot don't exactly class up the truffle. Maybe I just don't like apricot as much as I thought, so if you like dried apricots this might be good for you. Personally, though, it was by far my least favorite and I would not eat a whole one again!

Vermont Nut Free White Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Peanut and tree nut free! Sounds like a dream, especially since I can't eat "Flipz" anymore and I'm far too lazy to make my own. Unfortunately, I won't be getting these again. I got the white chocolate version, and they looked great. I bit in -- fine texture, tasty salted pretzel, good choco -- and suddenly a horrible plasticy aftertaste hit me that I couldn't get rid of. I don't know if I just got a dud bag or what, but I ate them within days of receipt and this plasticy aftertaste is really terrible, you guys. Luckily, I did order some other stuff from them, so maybe they'll redeem themselves.
