Dr. Pepper Peeps

Often I ask myself: What if instead of being bad, I didn't be? I wonder if these Dr Peepsers ever do the same. I like a peep now and again (when on Easter sale, pretty much), and I like a Dr Pepper compared to other sodas, and yet this is very much the minus of its parts. (Happens a lot with these gimmicky food combos, I feel). They are regular peep innards with a Doctor Pep flavored sugar coating. And indeed it's accurate, but they don't go together. This serves no one. Also the eyes were badly applied so they were like little 4-eyed alien peeps, which would be cute if they were delicious, but they aren't so it wasn't (the lament of every uggo, self very much included)!

Hershey's Candy Coated Eggs

Mm, candy! Should I be eating candy when my body is broken? Probs no, but my body is always broken, so I want candy, and frankly, deserve it. (IDK). Anyway, these are tasty! They were bigger than I expected (bigger than a cadbury egg, more like a whopper egg), with a cadbury-type candy coating, but a bit thicker. The inside is what I assume to be normal hershey's chocolate, but less creamy (or just less melty?), which actually works well. It's basically a big cadbury candy coated egg, but with no maltiness or whatever that unique flavor they have is. And I don't miss that note too much! Yum!

Hershey's milk chocolate eggs

More nut free discounted easter candy for me! Thanks Acme and Hershey's. Alas, though these are fine, they are inferior to a normal Hershey's Kiss for the following reasons: a serving of these is only 5 and not 7; the foil is harder to take off without eating some of it; the shape of the choco is less dainty to eat. Otherwise it's normal Hershey Chocolate, which is, yanno, what it is. Still a nice sweet snack though!

Hershey's Solid Milk Chocolate Bunny

This is gonna sound hella ungrateful, since a nut-free chocolate holiday snack is so rare and special, but I wish this were hollow!!! Ha. My parents got me this, though, which is very sweet. He has the look of an elegant bunny. And the taste of an inelegant Hershey's Bar. Not the greatest choco, and it's just so thick. Therefore my hollow wishes. But he's fun all the same.

HERSHEY'S KISSES Easter Vanilla Frosting Candy

A new nut-free choco? Yes please! Hershey's is so good to me lately. These have very cute plaid wrapping, and although I was skeptical of the flavor, I actually like it a lot. The inside is substantial, and tastes like frosting flavor (like a frosting flavored oreo or something), but a little custard note makes the chocolate shell taste more complex and creamy. It works well! The worst part about these is that they say in the description "Looking for a delicious way to treat yourself after a long day of adulting?" which is very unappealing. But at the same time, I guess I am technically doing that. But I wouldn't say so!!

Dean's Sweets - (A Fluffle of) Mini Bunnies

Well these guys are just adorable. They're partially hollow inside, which makes 'em easy to bite, and of course they're very cute. At a perfect snack size, it's safe to say I love these bunnies.

Dean's Sweets - Chocolate-Dipped Peeps

I can't resist a good peep! These are adorable and the chocolate elevates them beyond their pedestrian peep origin. :)

Milk-Choco Chick: Really tasty, basically like a marshmallow egg (which I adore). The chocolate is good as always, and the peep too. 8/10

Dark-Choco Chick: The peep is the highlight of this one for me - the dark choco is just a little too thick or overpowering. Still good though! 6.5/10

Dean's Sweets - Solid Chocolate Easter Eggs

Sorry as always for the potato pic -- you can tell the publicity photos they have on their website are much nicer!! Anyway, these are solid chocolate Easter egg candies. Kind of like Hershey's chocolate eggs except not foil wrapped, ribbed on the outside, and also, more delicious. I'm so glad I got these in milk chocolate because they're really great. Soft, creamy, nice milky chocolate. Would eat at any holiday.

Update: The dark choco ones are good too (for dark choco!). Very biteable, a fun shape. I just prefer milk choco. 6/10

Dean's Sweets - Buttercream-Filled Chocolate Easter Eggs

Oooh heck these are good. I don't need the Easter grass that comes with 'em, but the size and quality of these surely rivals all the fancy Easter chocolate I was always so jealous of throughout my life that I could never eat safely. Big stars in my eyes for these buttercream eggs! So lovely.

Espresso: This is a dark chocolate shell with the yellow icing swirl on top. The inner buttercream is not skimpy and it is truly Dec A Dent. I could see this being, like, a wedding favor for me (god willing that I ever get married lol). It's so substantial and tasty and creamy, and because of the coffee flavor, it feels classy too. But also this must be like 800 calories at least. I do love it, though. The only possible improvement would be if this weren't a dark chocolate egg, but even though it is a pretty thick layer of dark choco, it's not too excessive because of the very sweet creamy innards. Yom. 8/10

Raspberry: This is also a dark chocolate shell, with a pink icing swirl. And the inside is also actually pink! It's got actual raspberry seeds inside it, too! My first thought was that I actually like this even more than the espresso; it does seem less "DECADENT!" but also maybe more TASTY. I love these cremes, dang. 8/10

Vanilla: Alas, alas, a milk chocolate shell but somehow this wasn't my favorite one! It tastes like a bigger version of the milk chocolate buttercream, which I loved, but big size is a looot of sugar. The milk chocolate shell is very tasty, but of the three fillings, this is my least favorite. It's not as nuanced or complex, just very very sweet. With a tiny bit less sugar and more butter and/or vanilla flavor, this would be a star. Still, 7/10.

Dean's Sweets Floppy-Eared Easter Bunny

These are freakin' adorable with their lil ears and their lil scarfs. I'm not religious but I worship Easter Bunnies. And it's so rare to have a nut free easter bunny, too!

Dark choco: This was big but not huge (and I think it's the smallest size), and the chocolate was firm as per usual dark choco, but it wasn't impossible to bite, especially in the ears. It was a solid piece of dark choco - but you know how I feel about dark choco by now; it's my least favorite type of choco. Did I mention how adorable this is, though? 6/10

Milk choco: Oh yeah, milk choco reigns supreme again! (Well, white choco would be even better I bet, but still.) This was great, tasty and adorable. Not quite as delicious as the milk chocolate eggs - I guess it's less creamy in a bunny shape? but still a delightful treat. 7/10

Dove Springtime Mix

No better way to celebrate the springtime (it's 70 degrees today and ants are everywhere!!!) than with a nut-free chocolate assortment. What a treat. This has milk and dark chocolate pieces, which aren't the usual Dove squares but somewhat smaller spherical nuggets (still wrapped in motivational sayings, though) and taste plenty good, although I do prefer the other shape. The caramel filled milk chocolate is the typical square shape, and I think that's my favorite one of the mix. Very sweet. All are good and the variety is fun. Too bad this was like 9 bucks, but it's worth it once a season!

Peeps

Peeps are a classic nut-free candy! I recently had one on a Peeps Donut and I thought "I like peeps". But after eating 10 of them, I'm not so sure if I really LIKE like peeps. Or maybe the donut version was somehow superior. I do like their soft, pliable texture, and they're obviously adorable, but the marshmallow isn't that nice creamy thick type (like a good marshmallow egg), it's more gritty and thin. So, it's not amazing, but it's still a safe candy.

Whoppers Robin Eggs

Very cute. But really, I'm not sure why I get these every easter, because I never liked whoppers. But it's a safe (nut free) candy, it's eastery and seasonal, the box is cute and small, and they taste sweet. I guess that's why. They're OK, but it's not like chocolate, it's like a malt ball. Do you like a malt ball? Then you will like this malt egg.

Cadbury Mini Eggs

I'm pretty sure everyone agrees these are the holy grail of easter candy. If you like chocolate, you will like this! They are candy coated chocolate eggs. They are small and taste good. They don't have nuts! They are available in many countries! They are addictive and come in cute pastel colors. All hail the cadbury mini egg!

Hershey's Extra Creamy Milk Chocolate Eggs

Only a month until Easter! That means it's time to move on from our heart shaped candy into our egg shaped candy. I always used to like these chocolate eggs as a kid, because they're 'extra creamy' so they taste better than the normal nugget/kiss chocolate Hershey uses, and the egg is also what seems to be a larger piece of candy than a kiss. Plus they're cute and of course nut-free. These didn't do that much for me this time around though. They're still good, and I ate them all, don't get me wrong, but I think the creamy Dove chocolate is a little tastier/creamier. These are still a little chalky or bitter in comparison (but still good and better than regular Hersheys). They are also very dense, so a better suck than chew for me. Very cute in a candy dish, also. (My roommates are moving out soon so I can think about such niceties again!)
