Kettle Brand Jalepeño Chips

The agony continues. Anyway, these were really good. They were a little hot, so I was scared when I first ate them (you know how it goes), but all is well. They were a nice balance of sweet and spicy. I enjoyed these more than the BBQ flavor. I wish I had more bags left! Maybe when it isn't an Amazon strike I'll order some. I still have rice at home, but rice is pretty boring and makes me sleepy to cook (because I'm still hopelessly ill, idek what's happening to me). Sorry blog readers, I feel like being sick alone during a pandemic is making me more tragic and insane than usual. Wow!

Snyder's of Hanover 100 Calorie Pack Snaps Pretzels

Hello, sad followers. I am home alone in quarantine, no more boyf or human interaction for the foreseeable future. But pretzels as far as the eye can see! I'm so relieved to have this massive cache of pretzels. This snaps shape isn't as tasty as the original pretzel shape, though. They're a bit flimsier or softer, so even though they seem like a fun shape, I'd rather just go with the classics. However, they are still a nice snack to have with a decent amount of them in this little bag. I haven't tried dipping them in mustard yet, but when my chest feels better I may just do that! Stay tuned!

Dunkin' Original Roast K-Cups

OK, so my cofe crisis may have seemed a bit overblown, as I got these original blend k-cups in the mail today. (They're still available as an 88(!!) pack on amazon for about 50 bucks, ha ha). Now that I've had one, I'm asking myself if coffee is making my lungs worse, because my breathing feels more....wet? raspy? ?? But hey, Dr. Dunkin wouldn't do me wrong, right?

Flavor-wise, this is probably just a force of habit but this wasn't as tasty as the dark roast I'm used to. Still, I was grateful to have this nice hot coffee water, and although it was a little weaker/watery-er (no surprise I guess), it was still sufficient coffee drink and not having any bad taste, just perhaps not as much of a good taste. But after I drink ~50 of these bad boys, who knows what I'll be saying. Hope I make it to drinking 50 of these!

Love to all.

Dunkin' Dark Roast K-Cups

Ah, sweet coffee, hallowed be thy name. I am out of coffee. These k-cups were my last coffees, and now they are gone. I guess I've weaned myself from coffee now, which is good. But it's not good because I have very little food, am about to be totally alone, unable to care for my family, and I am still sick with weird chest pain and throat weirdness and life is bad!!!! But Dunkin' would make it a tiny bit better. They should close all their stores and move to a massive online shipping empire so I could get some g-dang coffee, since all websites are sold out for months right now.

Anyway, this was fine. It doesn't really taste like Dunkin, but it does taste like hot coffee water. No weird undertastes, just coffee. Good with a little milk. Does the job. Nice, good Dunkin.

Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

The quarantine continues! My industrious boyf had this cookie dough. It makes good cookies that don't contain a nut allergy warning, even though most other refridgerated cookie doughs do (make sure you check!). They aren't a great texture, (too crumbly), but they taste pretty good and are nice warm as well. Definitely a tasty snack if you can moderate your eating.

Lucky Charms cereal

To be honest, I don't think the version I ate actually was the "THREE NEW UNICORNS" one! I just like that because Nicole from Big Brother mentioned it very happily once and that makes me think of better times. Big Brother is cancelled now from virus, and basically so am I and so is my diet. I probably shouldn't eat Lucky Charms because it's got mad sugar in it. But anyway, it tastes good, sweet and unique. The oat flavor isn't as good as a wheat or rice cereal, in my opinion, but I guess it's good that it is gluten free for some unfortunate kiddos (some AU version of me, I guess). Marshmallows are always fun. It does get pretty soggy, unlike Kix in my opinion, and the individual pieces feel too small or insubstantial for my liking. It's fine but not as good/fun as it seems, is my opinion. Certainly better than nothing and at least they put some vitamins in it.

Uncle Ben's Ready Rice - Original

One real downside of the sickness quarantine at my boyf's house is that his food situation is not at all what my food situation is. For one thing, he didn't have Normal Ass Uncle Ben's Rice. But when he went to the grocery store he got this nice original rice packet, which is way better than nothing, Plus it takes only 90 seconds to cook and no stovetop. The taste is decent and the texture is a little bit dry, but not bad. The weirdness is that it comes from a plastic packet, so it smells a little "off" and seems unhealthy in a way. But the pluses: convenience, portion control, it is available in the quarantine. I'll eat it again I'm sure.

As for me: still alive, and rejected from urgent care! Hope to catch you tomorrow, alive and well. xoxo

Pringles Original - lightly salted

Ew, Pringles original? What a disappointment. And only half the salt?! What's the point, I ask you. These are really not great. They taste like cat litter, like Lay's does. And hey, my previous Pringle review says that too! Vindication! But there's nothing to cover up the bad taste here, which is sad. The can is fun, the shape and texture are fun, but the taste is truly bad.

In personal news, I'm still alive, still hurting, still quarantined! Also, my grandma is really sick and I can't go see her or even see my parents. Times are dark right now, which is why I'm whining in my food blog about my personal life. Sorry, Pringles fans. Hope to check in with another disappointing food review soon, because that'll mean I'm hanging in there. Hope you are too. xoxoxo

Kix cereal

This cereal was fine. It tastes like nothing. But it was so flavorful to me, a sick girl who is still alive but still very distressed about weird chest pain. Plus it was mildly filling, has some vitamins in it, and as far as I can tell isn't super sugary or terrible for you (although not very fibrous or good for you either). Nothing to write home about, not like sweet sweet Berry Berry Kix (the king of cereals), but not as bad as I remembered it from childhood either.

Twizzlers (Strawberry)

More quarantine food! Lucky me that I had these, even though they expired a month ago and were way tougher than they normally are. The taste is still good, a nice light starchy flavor, and not really "strawberry" but more "generic candy that I've had since I was a kid". You get 8 (or 10?) whole twists in this package, too! By the way, these are way superior to the pull and peel ones, which are not great at all, even though the idea is fun. Also, I am still alive! But still very scared. Stay tuned for me to hopefully find more food tomorrow, even though I am in lodging with my boyf because of fear-of-dying-alone :)

Snyder's of Hanover 100 Calorie Pack Mini Pretzels

These are pretzels, Nothing to write home about. I don't really love regular little pretzels like this, but I am panicky about my health and don't want to leave my house until I'm better so I don't kill 500 people. So I ordered a big pack of mini pretzels online. Sorry, delivery workers. The pretzels have one great perk: they're made in a peanut-free facility! Even the cool flavored ones are, I think. And when I was littler, Snyder's used to have a peanut warning, so they really flipped themselves, which I appreciate a ton. Yay, safe sustainable 100 calorie meals!

Keebler Fudge Stripes cookies - minis

No nut warning on the bag, so I assumed these were safe because I'm sick and in quarantine and it's all I got. Anyway, there were a decent amount of cookies in this mini bag, which is nice to see. They were softer than I expected and with less fudge on the bottom, but they were still good. Tasted kind of like a generic sweet flour cookie snack, which I enjoy. Would panic-eat again.

Nestle Kit Kat - 70% Dark

J'aime le Kit Kat. During these uncertain times of my being scared I'm dying of coronavirus (stay tuned!) I like to think back to fond times with this Canadian 70% dark Kit Kat that my friend brought back from Canada for me (so sweet). It was good. 70% seems like the appropriate percent of darkness for choco, since it wasn't too bitter or too sweet. These were satisfying and filling when I really needed a snack. I think I like the Big Kats more, but all nut free Kit Kats are god-tier. Also, be sure to check the label because some actually aren't safe! Quel dommage!

Kaukauna Spreadable Cheese - Asiago

So y'all know I love the spready cheese. I just saw this on sale at my grocery (only 4$ instead of 6$) so of course I got this flavor. But unlike cheddar v port wine, this one actually does have its own distinct flavor, which I guess is what asiago is. (My only prior asiago-experience is with Mod Pizza, where I thought "I hate this?") And at first I did not like this cheese flavor. But I continued to eat and then it just tasted more like the usual cheese smoosh. So, like wine, it gets better with exposure. Still a lower tier than the other flavors though, kind of a sour? taste that I don't enjoy.

Starbucks Bottled Frappuccino - Mocha

Coronavirus is ravaging my community (kinda), so I bought this at the grocery store in preparation for Dunkin closing down. But then I drank it within 4 hours because I have a coffee problem. Anyway, it's not great. Definitely not worth 3 bucks. So inferior to fresh coffee or even most big bottle coffees. Has that weird "canned coffee" metal(?) taste to it, even though it's in a glass jar and ostensibly not that old. I dunno what this is, it's not in the big milk bottle jugs of cold coffee. The rest is fine if you can ignore the weird taste (I can't) -- very sweet, somewhat milky, maybe a tiny hint of mocha. Not worth it, future me! But there is sweet sweet caffeine in there, I assume, although they don't tell you how much on the bottle so I suspect it isn't very much at all.

Dove Springtime Mix

No better way to celebrate the springtime (it's 70 degrees today and ants are everywhere!!!) than with a nut-free chocolate assortment. What a treat. This has milk and dark chocolate pieces, which aren't the usual Dove squares but somewhat smaller spherical nuggets (still wrapped in motivational sayings, though) and taste plenty good, although I do prefer the other shape. The caramel filled milk chocolate is the typical square shape, and I think that's my favorite one of the mix. Very sweet. All are good and the variety is fun. Too bad this was like 9 bucks, but it's worth it once a season!

Vermont Nut Free Star of David Chocolate Pop

This was great! First of all, I only got it because it was on super sale, and not because I'm at all religious, but I think there's a joke to be made there. Anyway, the chocolate was a good texture and tasted how I'd expect milk chocolate to taste, so that was a relief. Plus it was a fun shape to bite. The downside is that at the end it got kind of messy as bits fell off the stick. But that's just part of the fun! About 350 calories, so a decadent treat.

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese with Cauliflower Pasta

Sooo I got this because I'm always trying to eat more veg. But it turns out cauliflower is like, the last ingredient. On the plus side, this tastes just like normal mac and cheese, maybe a little bit firmer texture. It made my ear hurt but that might be because I ate too fast. Ultimately it was filling and a good amount, but it's easy to speed eat I guess. I also think this might be discontinued because I bought it on sale, but otherwise I'd get it again for the illusion of healthfulness!

Kaukauna Spreadable Cheese - Port Wine

I really, really like spready cheese. I used to get a 12 pack of soft cheese (aka spready cheeses) from the Wisconsin Cheeseman every winter, but now it has a stupid "may contain peanuts" warning, which is absurd because it's cheese. SIGH. Anyway, this has the same texture as that, mostly. The taste isn't quite as good, but that's alright. It's still way too easy to eat the whole darn tub at once, at least for me. I don't know how long this actually lasts once it's open because I always eat it within a week of opening, and usually much sooner than that if we're being honest with ourselves. It's good with a firm cracker, like a wheat thin, otherwise you gotta break out a knife or something and I'm not about that (It's really Dippy Cheese in my book). Actually this tastes a lot like the little cheese compartment in Handi-Snacks cheese and crackers, which is nostalgic. But this is 6 bucks. Anyway, it's worth it, and I wish they had more complex/fun flavors on offer! (The cheddar is basically indistinguishable from this one).

Knorr Pasta Sides - Alfredo

Woah, woah, how have I not reviewed this one yet? This is a solid noodle pack, it's definitely in my rotation. It also has no soy in it, yay! One downside is that it's easily burnt so you gotta watch it and take it off the heat earlier than you might think, when it's still a thin soup consistency. It's good with the frozen mixed veg. A fun noodle.

Peaceful Fruits Organic Fruit Strips - Original Açaí

I thought this cut-out in the packaging was the shape of a bunny rabbit, but I think it must be of an acai berry? Also, that's some orthography in the title. Anyway, this was a new fruit snack brand to me, but the taste was ultimately very generic. The strip was really thin and kind of tough to bite into, which IS better than the thick/dense sticky fruit bars you usually see, so I didn't mind the texture. But the taste was just like all the other fruit strips; nothing amazing. Just a fine snack to pass the time.
