Twinings Cold Brewed Iced Tea - English Classic

Ice tea...bag?? What a country. I drank this at an apartment that didn't have ice in it (I'm so privileged to have an ice-making fridge!), but it wasn't bad, even with no ice (or sweetener or lemon or anything). Basically this is a less intense/less gritty English Black Tea. Well, apparently this is both black and green teas mixed, but I mostly tasted the black (aka normal) one. This is a fun/good option if I'm in desperate need of caffeine too!

Stretch Island - Apricot Fruit Leather

This was decent, but not as fun as the nice grapey one. It has a slight apricot flavor, but overall it was basically the same vibe as all other fruit leathers (that is, mostly apple and pear flavors). Not terrible, but not impressive.

Stretch Island - Grape Fruit Leather

This tastes just like the space food version of grape jelly, which I like! (The grape part, not the space food texture so much). Usually grape jam is associated with peanut butter and I fear it, but I do like the flavor when it's safe like this! And for some reason, this grape is a rare flavor for fruit leather snacks. The texture was somewhere in the middle of the thin&snappy to thick&dense spectrum, but closer to that sticky dense side. Nothing truly amazing here, but the flavor makes it a lot more appealing than your usual fruit leather!

Artisan Tropic Plantain Strips - Naturally Sweet

This is the "unflavored" version, that is, just plantains and oil. I had pretty low expectations since my previous plantain snacks were not very "naturally sweet", more like thick salty oil chomps. But these actually were naturally sweet! So they were really good! Definitely more enjoyable to me than the sea salt type ones. They had a nice flavor, fun and new. Still a thick/crunchy chip but not too oily or anything weird. I'm impressed!

Crispy Fruit - all strawberry

Another Crispy Fruit from our old reliables at Crispy Green. These were pretty different from your typical apple/pear fruit pieces though, mainly due to a weird chemical kinda flavor they had. Or maybe more like a burnt flavor, like a fireplace? Anyway, I enjoyed it overall - it wasn't super duper sweet, and in fact it was almost sour. Lots of red dust lingering in the bottom of the pouch though.

2017 Poggio "Belial" Anima

OK, Belials are an enemy you fight in my favorite video game ever (Shining Force), so this wine definitely stands out in my mind because of the quirky name. It took me a while to drink it anyway, though. The overall name is kind of inscrutable -- what type of wine even is this? Apparently it's 100% Sangiovese, which I've had before and liked, but the name does not make that clear. Nevertheless, this has a cool name & label art, and it has a screwtop, so it's got a lot of good features, even though it's a red and not a bubbly.

The taste was pretty good. It was still very "typical red", but I thought the texture was somehow more...thin? Less cloying? It was also a brighter red color than I'm used to seeing. Kind of like the Hawaiian Punch Fruit Juicy Red of wine, which is an overall compliment. This wasn't too sweet though, or too acidy, it was just generally good red wine, all throughout days 1-3.

Fun Dip Candy

There's something pretty wacky about Fun Dip. Look no further than the ostensible brand name (Lik-M-Aid?) or the name of the red flavor, "Cherry Yum Diddly Dip". But this is a classic candy from my childhood, and it's nut free both pre- and post-Wonka, so I see it as wacky-good.

Cherry Yum Diddly Dip isn't as good as the blue flavor, which is rare for candy because usually red is best. Obviously it's just red sugar, but the grains of sugar felt "thinner" with the blue one, and these didn't really taste that good. The stick tastes like mildly sweet candy, a good finish to the sweet sugar "dip". More nostalgic than good, and maybe even more bad than good. But still, 6/10.

Razz Apple Magic Dip is far superior, but I'm not sure why. Is it because the sugar feels thinner? Is it somehow less sweet (very rare for blue raspberry candies?) It's mysterious, but the color change from blue to green with water (or saliva) is pretty fun, so that doesn't hurt. A classic nostalgic candy. Also, makes your mouth blue. 7/10

Poshi Asparagus Pack

This concept excited me a lot, because I'm always hunting for veg, and especially shelf stable veg that I'm not allergic to (shockingly rare). Unfortunately, that genre is basically "pickles", and I don't like pickles. More fool me, because this is basically pickled asparagus. I should have known from #2 ingredient vinegar, but I didn't realise what I was in for until I ate this. It's still a vegetable, and I appreciate that, but this is essentially pickled asparagus. Super acidic. And therefore, in my opinion, not very tasty at all. Will I still try their other veg? Maybe. But now I know not to get too excited. The seasoning doesn't really come through for me, just the vinegar.

Organic Valley Thick Cut Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese

Cheese? In this pandemic? Well, I guess I've switched from egg to cheese as my singular protein source, since it is available in my bi-monthly food delivery box and I like cheese. As before, I think Organic Valley cheese is risky if soft cheese but otherwise safe, and I've been eating a lot of it lately and am still kickin'! This cheese was really nice, even though I don't typically like cheddar much. I guess the smaller pieces make it more manageable. It definitely still tastes like cheddar cheese though, and not generic swiss/mozz cheese. The thick shreds were fun to eat out of the bag. That said, I don't LOVE cheddar, and it didn't go super well with noodles like munster or swiss does. Worked decently well for quesadillas though.

Back to Nature - Honey Graham Sticks

This company makes a TON of nutty foods, and they (used to?) use "tree nuts" to make the print on their packaging, so this is just extremely terrifying. But the allergy label didn't mention nuts and their labelling is supposed to be good, so I ate these. They tasted like drier, crispier honey teddy grahams. This is fine, but they weren't good enough to overcome my allergy nervousness, so I would not get them again. If you have no allergies then these are probably just a fine snack but still nothing to write home (or blog) about.

Chips Ahoy! Original Cookies

Chips Ahoy! yum ahoy. I think Chips ahoy are kind of famous for a kid dying from eating the Reese's flavored one because the package looks really similar to the non-reese's one, which is scary and bad but because I read the packages always I still eat the regular flavor, since it has no may contain warnings. Am I tempting fate? Maybe. But the cookies are good. I like chocolate chip cookie, and even though these sure aren't homemade, they taste good, especially if you've been eating top-8 free cookies only for a while (no offense). Crunchy and sweet. Hard not to eat too many!

Dunkin Pumpkin Spice K-Cups

I like that they change the box art every year (it seems) so that I know I got fresh ones! That pie picture looks tasty. I am hungry. Anyway, these are fine. It's weird to have a pumpkin spice coffee with no milk or sugar, because all the pumpkin spice coffee at Dunkin/Starbucks is a syrup with milk and sugar in it. Obviously this doesn't taste as good. But, it's still fun to have these for the ~fall season~, and I do reach for them over the regular coffee flavor, at least for now. And you can always add your own milk if you have milk!

Campbell’s Skillet Sauces - Chicken Marsala

Was this good? Definitely not. Was this better than I'd feared it would be? Yes. It smelled like marsala (wine+mushroom), which is nice, but it didn't taste like mushroom or garlic at all, and it had too much tomato in it (in my opinion, any is too much). No soy protein though! And easy to use. But I would not get this again, it was very "generic wet".

Miss Vickie's Sea Salt & Vinegar Chips

Subway has Lays, Jersey Mikes has Miss Vickie's. Miss Vickie > Lay, unless its the season for those limited edition flavors. Anyway, I'm having a terrible week, so I wish I had these chips now to comfort me. They are good chips, kind chips who would never be mean to you because they are chips. Honestly I don't have much to say about 'em -- they're solid chips. No nuts that I can see, good crunch, good flavor. Good.

Dunkaroos

These had so much hype that they came back from 90s snack purgatory, but I never had had them so I have no attachments. Still they were kind of fun, the cookie parts taste basically like a sugary cereal, but the frosting is tasty with fun little sprinkle bits, and it's only ~190cals which felt pretty decadent for what it was.

Starbucks Bottled Frappuccino - Salted Dark Chocolate

A new exciting flavor! This was a tasty dessert-esque drink, as always. The salt in this flavor did serve to make it less overwhelmingly sweet, which is good -- a little more complex than the usual bottled coffee drink. Still way too sweet and milky for my preference, though! Where is the coffee!? (Or splash of cold brew, in this fun new case). But still, I liked it, would drink again.

Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Oven Roasted Turkey Breast

I also got this at Walgreens, and it's pretty good. Solid on its own (meat!) but since I have tortillas, also works in tortillas. It's good heated up with cheese + hot sauce for lil quesadilla things, and it's good cold with mustard or miracle whip. About 2 slices works for 1 tortilla, and that makes about 10 servings/5 meals, which is perfect since this stays good for a week. I was nervous it'd be gross or slimy but it really wasn't, I got a stomach ache from a cold one once, but that might be the tortilla or the miracle whip, so I don't blame the turkey. Allergy info seems good too, no soy or anything. Yay, meat!

Kraft Singles

Ah, a quintessential American food! I had these all the time as a kid, much less so as an adult, but I have them now because it's the only cheese I have access to at Walgreens, the only store I go to during COVIDPOCALYPSE. Anyway, no nuts, individually wrapped, stay good forever, cheese, there's definitely positives here. And they melt well too and go well with mustard. Not so great on their own, as they do taste a little plastic-y or artificial. But as a supplement to Noodle or Sandwich, I like 'em, Not great for quesadilla though, sadly.

Brothers All Natural Fruit Crisps - Fuji Apple & Cinnamon

I dunno why Brothers is the "Mickey Mouse character" dried fruit company, but it clearly is. Minnie is cool though, so I'm into it. These apples are also a nice sweet treat. I think apples are one of the best dried fruits, the texture isn't horrible, there's enough "bite" on em. And the cinnamon goes great with apple. Plus unlike the weird tiny Halloween bags, this is a normal sized bag with like 10 apple pieces in it. Hooray!
